Are the aesthetics of purity and moderation mutually exclusive?

I enjoy both.

The last two times I've seen live music, I've fallen briefly in love with a violinist.  Two is a coincidence, three is a trend, right?  I need to find another group with a female violinist to see how deep I'm into this.

I had a hell of a cool day.  It started yesterday, when I had a sailing student with a pretty smile.  It may not have been directed at me, but I pretended it was.  I expected to see her today, and bought an extra ticket to the jazz concert I intended to see tonight, just in case.  She wasn't around today, as her lesson was canceled due to a lack of wind.  The wind picked up later in the afternoon, though, and I had a nice sail on a beautiful new wooden boat.  I met a dude (which is a little like meeting an ugly chick) new to Seattle, who mentioned being interested in live music, so I gave my extra ticket to him.  I expected the jazz to be on the dull, predictable side, but it turned out to be a great show.  After the show, I stuck around and listened to the Cuban son act, and met a guy who told me that the genre and quality were typical of Sunday nights.  I'm going back there.

When I got home, a couple of guys were speaking Brazilian Portuguese on the elevator.  I wasn't sure it was Portuguese, but the green and yellow jersey one was wearing gave me enough confidence to throw a boa noite at them when they stepped off, to which the guy wearing the jersey reacted with a surprised smile.

I decided this evening that what I most desire in a woman is stubbornness and curiosity.  How incompatible are those two qualities?

Afterward, I tried to decide whether I have those I meet that description myself -- stubborn and curious.  I couldn't decide whether I'm stubborn.

Выходила, песьню заводила... [Apr. 26th, 2008|11:01 pm]
I won a boat race, today.

I signed up with the Renton Sailing Club.  I do most of my sailing on Lake Union, which is a pretty little lake close to where I live.  But, it's little.  The Renton club is on Lake Washington, which is much bigger, and has bigger boats available.  Plus, it's crazy cheap.

When I was young, I thought I would buy an airplane some day.  But, boats are way less expensive, and maybe even more fun.  This reminds me, I haven't really flown since I moved to Seattle.  Wow.

I realized today that I laugh regularly with my coworkers, which makes work way better than it would be.

When I got on the elevator at home tonight, an old (read middle-aged) couple got off, and the elevator smelled like sex.

I remember being thirteen, and wanting very badly to fall in love.  I did, of course, eventually.  But, that's been a while.

Water fall, don't ever change your ways
Fall with me for a million days
Oh, my waterfall

I left Jimi packed away in my CD collection unattended to for years.  I just found it again recently.

I just saw The Bucket List. I liked it.

A recent post on the [info]linguaphiles community reminded me that Turkish is at the top of my list of languages to learn.  There's something compelling about the agglutinating paradigm.
